Families Helping Families to Host the Annual "Active for Autism" 5k Run/Walk
Baton Rouge, LA – April 2, 2025 – Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge (FHFGBR) is thrilled to announce the return of its Annual Active for Autism 5K Run/Walk & Family Fun Fest, proudly co-sponsored by Enbridge, 100.7 The Tiger, and Ochsner Children’s Hospital, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Pennington Biomedical Center.
This beloved community event promotes awareness, acceptance, and inclusion of individuals affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It provides an opportunity for families, friends, and supporters to come together in celebration and solidarity, fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with autism and their loved ones.
FHFGBR proudly serves seven parishes in the region: East & West Baton Rouge, East & West Feliciana, Iberville, Ascension, and Pointe Coupee. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 1 in 36 children aged 8 years are diagnosed with autism in the U.S. (cdc.gov). Additionally, an estimated 67,947 adults in Louisiana are on the autism spectrum (pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov). These statistics highlight the growing need for awareness, advocacy, and support for individuals with autism and their families across the state.
